Dr. Bong Fwee Leong
Founder & Consultant

Dr. Bong Fwee Leong is a highly accomplished engineer and researcher with a diverse career spanning multiple industries. His expertise in RF technology and RFID systems has led to significant contributions in the design and development of innovative RFID tag antennas. Dr. Bong's research has been published in prestigious international journals, and he actively serves as a peer reviewer.
He has amassed extensive industry experience at notable companies, including Inventec, Agilent Technologies, and Smartrac Technology, where he played a crucial role in designing and launching numerous RFID tags. Driven by a passion for knowledge sharing, he briefly entered academia before joining HID Global as an RFID consultant, ultimately advancing to the position of Training and Metrology Manager.
In August 2024, Dr. Bong left HID Global to establish his own technical consulting firm, WaveLink STCC, where he offers RFID-based technology services and various technical training programs.

Prof Ts Dr Lim Eng Hock

Prof Ts Dr. Eng-Hock Lim, a Malaysian national, holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan Ocean University (1997), an M.Eng. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Nanyang Technological University (2000), and a Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering from the City University of Hong Kong (2007). He currently serves as a Senior Professor at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) and is a Fellow of both the Academy of Sciences Malaysia and the ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology.
Prof. Lim was the Founding Chair of the IEEE Malaysia Council on RFID and served as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation from 2013 to 2016. He is currently an Associate Editor for the IEEE Journal of Radio Frequency Identification and has been a Distinguished Lecturer for the IEEE Council on RFID since April 2021. In recognition of his contributions to the field, Dr. Lim was honored with the Teds Williams Award from the Association for Automatic Identification and Mobility (AIM) in 2022.
His research interests span a range of cutting-edge topics, including RFID antennas, smart and reconfigurable antennas, and multifunctional antennas.

Dr. Lee Yong Hong
Consultant
Dr. Lee Yong Hong holds a First-Class B.Sc. (Hons) in Physics (2012), followed by an M.Eng.Sc. (2016) and a Ph.D. in Engineering (2019), all from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR). During his Ph.D. studies, Dr. Lee designed a range of on-metal and on-human RFID tag antennas, which earned recognition through publication in esteemed journals such as IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, as well as leading conference proceedings.
In addition to his work in RFID antenna design, Dr. Lee spearheaded the development of an Artificial Intelligence-assisted design method that revolutionized the efficiency and effectiveness of RFID tag antenna development. By leveraging machine learning algorithms, his team reduced design cycle time and costs by approximately 80%, allowing for near-instant optimization of tag antenna parameters. This innovative approach culminated in a patent grant.
Since joining UTAR as an Assistant Professor, Dr. Lee has continued his research into RFID antenna design for a wide range of applications, publishing his findings in high-impact journals. A notable achievement is the development of an embedded tag antenna, which, despite its compact size (5 × 3 × 2 mm²), achieved a high realized gain of approximately -5 dB when fully embedded in metal. To the best of his knowledge, this represented the highest gain-to-size ratio among similar tag antennas at the time, a breakthrough recognized with an international patent granted in Taiwan in February 2022.
In addition to RFID antenna design, Dr. Lee's research interests span electromagnetism, microwave theory, and propagation techniques. He is currently collaborating with researchers and industry partners on several projects funded by UTAR, as well as government and industry stakeholders.
